Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1Hong Kong in a Day

Morning: Ascend Victoria Peak via the historic Peak Tram for spectacular skyline views. Walk the Peak Circle Trail for 360-degree views. Descend to Central and walk through the Mid-Levels Escalator area — the world's longest outdoor covered escalator system. Sample dim sum at a traditional teahouse. Afternoon: Take the Star Ferry to Kowloon, explore the Avenue of Stars, then ferry back. Evening: wander through Temple Street Night Market. Stay overnight in Hong Kong.

Day 2Macau Day Trip

Early morning TurboJET ferry to Macau. Begin the walking tour of the UNESCO Historic Centre: A-Ma Temple (Macau's namesake, built 1488), Mandarin's House, Lilau Square, and St. Lawrence's Church. Walk up to the Ruins of St. Paul's — the breathtaking 17th-century facade. Explore Senado Square's Portuguese wave-patterned pavement, visit St. Dominic's Church, and climb Monte Fort for sweeping views. Lunch of Macanese cuisine (Portuguese-African-Chinese fusion). Afternoon: Visit the Macau Tower for city views, then sample Portuguese egg tarts and browse the shops selling almond cookies and jerky. Evening ferry back to Hong Kong for departure.

Travel Tip: This 2-day itinerary is intense but rewarding. Start early on both days. The Macau ferry terminal at Taipa or Outer Harbour both have good connections. If you have an evening flight from Hong Kong, aim for a 4 PM return ferry from Macau to allow ample time. Macau's currency is the Macanese Pataca but Hong Kong dollars are widely accepted at 1:1.
