Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Chengdu
Airport pickup and transfer to hotel. Afternoon: People's Park for a leisurely Chengdu introduction — watch tai chi, sip jasmine tea at Heming Teahouse. Evening: Jinli Ancient Street for local snacks — try dan dan noodles, mapo tofu, and sweet water noodles. Welcome Sichuan hotpot dinner.
Day 2: Chengdu Panda Base & Culture
Early morning visit to Chengdu Panda Base — see pandas at their most active during feeding time (8:30-10:00 AM). Explore the panda nursery, red panda area, and the bamboo forest walk. Afternoon: Wuhou Shrine (Three Kingdoms history), Kuanzhai Alley for boutique shopping, and a visit to Wenshu Monastery. Evening free to explore Chengdu's vibrant food scene.
Day 3: Chengdu to Huanglong & Jiuzhaigou
Morning flight to Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport. Transfer to Huanglong National Park (3,000-3,500m) — walk the wooden boardwalks through thousands of emerald and golden travertine pools, framed by snow-capped peaks. Marvel at the 'Yellow Dragon' — the world's most extensive travertine landscape. Afternoon: drive to Jiuzhaigou valley. Check into hotel near the park entrance.
Day 4: Full Day Jiuzhaigou Valley
Full day exploring Jiuzhaigou Valley. Take the eco-bus up Rize Valley: Five Flower Lake, Panda Lake, Arrow Bamboo Lake, Pearl Shoal (a 310m-wide cascading wonder), and the mighty Nuorilang Waterfall (270m wide). Descend Shuzheng Valley: Rhinoceros Lake, Tiger Lake, and Shuzheng Waterfalls. Visit Zha Ru Valley for the colorful Five-Color Pond. Lunch at Nuorilang Tourist Center.
Day 5: Departure
Morning leisure time — optional visit to a local Tibetan village for butter tea and yak culture. Transfer to Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport for your flight back to Chengdu. If staying in Chengdu: afternoon free for shopping at Chunxi Road. Transfer to airport/train station for departure.
