Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Chengdu — Spring in the City
Arrive at Chengdu. Afternoon: visit a peach blossom orchard in Longquanyi district (if in season, late March) or People's Park for spring flowers. Evening: Kuanzhai Alley and Sichuan hotpot. Overnight in Chengdu.
Day 2: Chengdu to Mount Siguniang
Drive west from Chengdu across the Balang Mountain tunnel to Mount Siguniang. Afternoon: Shuangqiao Valley — alpine scenery with rhododendrons blooming beneath snow peaks (May-June). Overnight at Siguniang Town.
Day 3: Siguniang to Danba via Xiaojin
Morning hike in Changping Valley. Afternoon: drive to Danba via the Jinchuan Valley — if traveling in March, the entire valley explodes with pear blossoms, creating one of China's most spectacular flower festivals. Visit Jiaju Tibetan Village amid the blossoming orchards. Overnight in Danba.
Day 4: Danba Spring Villages
Full day exploring Danba's spring beauty. Morning at Zhonglu Tibetan Village for sunrise over the watchtowers and flowering orchards. Visit Suopo Watchtower Complex. Afternoon: explore more of Jinchuan Valley's pear blossom seas (March) or Bamei's spring grasslands. Overnight in Danba.
Day 5: Tagong Grassland & Xinduqiao
Drive across Tagong Grassland — yaks grazing amid spring wildflowers, Lhagang Monastery in the distance. Continue to Xinduqiao — 'Photographer's Paradise' in spring green with blossoming wildflowers. Overnight in Xinduqiao.
Day 6: Kangding Rhododendrons & Return to Chengdu
Morning: explore Kangding — the gateway city's hillsides covered in wild rhododendrons (May). Cross Zheduo Pass for final plateau views. Drive back to Chengdu through lush spring valleys. Overnight in Chengdu.
Day 7: Leshan Giant Buddha & Mount Emei
Day trip to Leshan and Mount Emei — the UNESCO sites are especially beautiful in spring when the mountain's famous rhododendrons and azaleas are in bloom. Golden Summit for the gilded Samantabhadra statue amid spring mist. Overnight in Chengdu.
Day 8: Panda Base & Departure
Morning: Chengdu Panda Base — spring is the best season to see baby pandas (born August-September, they emerge in spring). Afternoon: transfer to airport.
