Tour Overview
This extraordinary 5-day itinerary connects two of China's most mind-bending destinations: Shenzhen, the hyper-futuristic 'Silicon Valley of Hardware,' and Zhangjiajie, the prehistoric sandstone pillar landscape that inspired James Cameron's Avatar. In just five days, you'll experience the full spectrum of China's modern and natural wonders β from the world's 4th tallest skyscraper to the world's tallest outdoor elevator, from DJI drone demos to the glass-bottomed cliff walk on Tianmen Mountain. The two cities are connected by a 1h40m flight, making this an incredibly efficient yet deeply rewarding two-city adventure. In Shenzhen: ascend Ping An Finance Centre, explore Splendid China Folk Village, visit the DJI flagship store, and understand how a fishing village became a global tech capital. In Zhangjiajie: hike through the otherworldly sandstone pillars of the National Forest Park (3,000+ quartz-sandstone peaks), ride the Bailong Elevator (326m), walk the Tianmen Mountain glass skywalk (1,430m above sea level), and stand where the 'Hallelujah Mountain' inspired Pandora. This tour is perfect for photographers, nature lovers, tech enthusiasts, and anyone who wants to witness the extremes of human achievement and natural wonder in one unforgettable trip.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Shenzhen Arrival
Arrive at Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport or Futian High-Speed Rail Station. Your guide meets you and transfers to your downtown hotel. The rest of the day is free. If you have energy, explore the neighborhood β Shenzhen is one of China's most walkable cities with excellent parks, cafes, and street food. Optional evening: Shenzhen Bay Park sunset walk along the 15km coastal greenway with views of Hong Kong's mountains across the water. Overnight in Shenzhen.
Day 2: Shenzhen β Tech, Culture & Skyline
Full day exploring Shenzhen's greatest hits. Morning: ascend Ping An Finance Centre (599m, 115 floors) for breathtaking 360-degree views of the Greater Bay Area. On clear days, see Hong Kong, Macau, and Guangzhou. Then Lianhua Mountain Park β climb to Deng Xiaoping's bronze statue and learn about the 1992 speech that transformed China. Afternoon: Splendid China Folk Village β China's iconic landmarks in miniature (Great Wall, Forbidden City, Terracotta Warriors, Potala Palace) plus cultural performances by 25 ethnic groups. Evening: visit the DJI Flagship Store in Nanshan, the world's largest drone company. Try drone simulators and understand why Shenzhen manufactures 90% of the world's electronics. Overnight in Shenzhen.
Day 3: Fly to Zhangjiajie β Tianmen Mountain
Morning: transfer to Shenzhen Bao'an Airport for your 1h40m flight to Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport. Your Zhangjiajie guide meets you. Afternoon: Tianmen Mountain (Heaven's Gate Mountain). Ride the world's longest passenger cable car (7.5km, 30 min) from downtown Zhangjiajie to the summit at 1,518m. Walk the 60m glass skywalk clinging to vertical cliffs β a vertigo-inducing experience with 1,430m of air beneath your feet. Visit Tianmen Cave (Heaven's Gate), a natural 131.5m-high arch carved through the mountain, reached by 999 steps (or escalator). The views of the winding Tongtian Avenue (99 bends road) from above are unforgettable. Evening: explore the lively night scene in Wulingyuan town β local Hunan cuisine (try the spicy dishes, but request 'not too spicy' if needed). Overnight in Wulingyuan.
Day 4: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park β Avatar Mountains
Full day in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park β China's first UNESCO World Heritage site and the inspiration for Avatar's floating mountains. Morning: enter the park and ride the Bailong Elevator (326m, world's tallest outdoor lift) through the cliff to Yuanjiajie. Walk the scenic platform trails to the 'Hallelujah Mountain' (renamed from Southern Sky Column after Avatar) β the exact peak that inspired the floating mountains of Pandora. See the 'First Bridge Under Heaven,' a natural stone arch spanning two peaks. Afternoon: explore Tianzi Mountain (1,262m) via cable car β the 'Monarch of the Peak Forest' with the most spectacular panoramic views of thousands of sandstone pillars stretching to the horizon. Hike the Golden Whip Stream (5.7km) through a deep gorge at the valley floor, surrounded by towering cliffs, crystal-clear water, and wild macaque monkeys. This is the most photogenic section of the park. Overnight in Wulingyuan.
Day 5: Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon & Glass Bridge β Departure
Morning: visit Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, featuring the world's longest and highest glass-bottom bridge (430m long, 300m above the canyon floor). Walk across this engineering marvel β transparent panels under your feet reveal the dramatic canyon below. Explore the canyon's waterfalls, caves, and lush vegetation on a gentle descent (about 1 hour). The canyon's natural beauty β crystal streams, hanging stalactites, and emerald pools β provides a serene contrast to the vertiginous bridge experience. Afternoon: transfer to Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport for departure. End of your tech-to-nature adventure.
