Day-by-Day Itinerary
Your guide greets you at Tianjin International Cruise Port. Drive to Beijing (~2.5h). En route, your guide gives an orientation to China's history and culture. Arrive Beijing by midday. Afternoon: Temple of Heaven — the majestic Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests and the Echo Wall. The surrounding park is filled with locals practicing tai chi, ribbon dancing, and playing traditional instruments — join in! Then a hutong rickshaw ride through the narrow alleyways of old Beijing. Visit a traditional courtyard home (siheyuan) and meet a local family. Evening: try Peking duck. Optional Kung Fu show at the Red Theatre. Overnight in Beijing.
Early start: drive to Mutianyu Great Wall (~1.5h). Take the cable car up and walk this magnificent section — beautifully restored, surrounded by forest, with far fewer tourists than Badaling. Climb between watchtowers, photograph the wall snaking across mountain ridges, and optionally ride the toboggan down. Return to Beijing. Afternoon: Forbidden City — walk through the Gate of Heavenly Peace into the world's largest palace. Explore the three ceremonial halls (Supreme Harmony, Central Harmony, Preserving Harmony) and the inner courts where concubines and eunuchs lived. The scale is overwhelming — 980 buildings over 72 hectares. Exit through the Imperial Garden. Evening: free time for shopping or hutong exploration. Overnight in Beijing.
Morning: Tiananmen Square — the Flag-Raising Ceremony (at sunrise) if you're an early riser, otherwise visit mid-morning. See the Monument to the People's Heroes and the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall (exterior). Then Summer Palace — the empress dowager Cixi's magnificent lakeside retreat. Walk the 728m Long Corridor (every beam painted with a different scene from Chinese literature), see the Marble Boat, and take a boat across Kunming Lake to the island temple. By early afternoon: depart Beijing for Tianjin Cruise Port (~2.5h). Arrive at the port with time to board before sailing. Your guide ensures punctual return — we track your ship's departure time.
