Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Historic Centre — Ruins of St. Paul's, Senado Square & A-Ma Temple
Your guide meets you at the Macau Ferry Terminal or Border Gate. Begin at the Ruins of St. Paul's — the magnificent 17th-century stone facade that is Macau's most iconic landmark. Originally St. Paul's College and the Church of Mater Dei (built 1602-1640), only the grand granite facade and 68-step staircase remain after an 1835 fire. Walk through the narrow alleyways of the Historic Centre to Senado Square — a UNESCO-listed plaza with distinctive wave-patterned black-and-white cobblestone mosaic, surrounded by pastel-colored neo-classical buildings. Visit the Holy House of Mercy (1569), Macau's oldest charitable institution. Then A-Ma Temple — a 400-year-old Taoist temple complex built into the hillside overlooking the Inner Harbour. Macau derives its name from 'A-Ma-Gau' (Bay of A-Ma).
Day 2: Macau Tower, Cotai Strip & Portuguese Flavors
After a Portuguese-influenced lunch (try African chicken or bacalhau), ascend Macau Tower (338m) for stunning 360-degree views of Macau Peninsula, the Pearl River Delta, and on clear days, Hong Kong. Adrenaline seekers can watch bungee jumpers from the world's highest commercial bungee (233m). Then cross the bridge to the Cotai Strip — Macau's answer to Las Vegas with mega-resorts like the Venetian, City of Dreams, and Studio City. Your guide can escort you through the shopping arcades, casino lobbies (21+), and iconic replicas like the Venetian's Grand Canal. End the day with Portuguese egg tarts from Lord Stow's Bakery — the flaky, caramelized custard tarts that are Macau's most famous food export.
