Visa Information

Most foreign visitors need a tourist visa (L visa) before traveling to China. Apply at your nearest Chinese embassy or visa center. You'll typically need: passport (valid 6+ months), completed application form, passport photo, flight itinerary, hotel bookings, and invitation letter (we can provide this). Processing takes 4-7 business days. Some cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, etc.) now offer 144-hour visa-free transit for eligible nationalities.

Best Times to Visit

• Spring (April-May): Ideal across most of China—mild temperatures and blooming scenery
• Autumn (September-October): Perhaps the best season—crisp air, golden colors, and comfortable travel
• Summer (June-August): Hot and humid in most regions; peak domestic travel, but the best time for Tibet and Inner Mongolia
• Winter (November-March): Cold in the north but fewer crowds and lower prices; great for Harbin Ice Festival and skiing

Essential Travel Tips

• Internet Access: Google, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and many Western sites are blocked. Get a VPN before arriving. WeChat is essential—download and set up before your trip.
• Payment: Cash is rarely used—Alipay and WeChat Pay dominate. Set up Alipay Tour Pass or link your international card before traveling.
• Language: English is not widely spoken outside major hotels and tourist sites. Download a translation app (Pleco for Chinese characters, Baidu Translate). Our guides speak fluent English.
• Transportation: High-speed trains are excellent—book through your guide or Trip.com. Didi is China's Uber equivalent.
• Health: Drink only bottled or boiled water. Carry tissues (public restrooms may lack toilet paper). Air quality can vary—check AQI and bring masks if sensitive.
