Traveling to Tibet is one of the most rewarding experiences in Chinaโbut it requires extra planning. Here's everything you need to know.
Permits Required
All foreign travelers need a Tibet Entry Permit (TTP) to enter Tibet. This can only be obtained through a registered Chinese tour operator. We handle the entire permit process for our clients.
When to Visit
May to October offers the best weather, with warm days and clear skies. JulyโAugust is peak season but also the monsoon period. Winter is cold but offers empty monasteries and crisp mountain views.
Altitude Considerations
Lhasa sits at 3,656 meters (12,000 feet). Most travelers need 1โ2 days to acclimatize. We build rest days into every Tibet itinerary and our guides monitor your health throughout.
What You'll See
The Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street, and Sera Monastery (don't miss the monk debates!) are Lhasa essentials. For the adventurous, Everest Base Camp and Mount Kailash await.
